Miracle Morning – the best start to your morning!

Miracle Morning – the best start to your morning!

I am the first person to claim, that I am not a morning person! I am a compulsive snoozer: before Miracle Morning, I used to actually set several alarms in the morning, 10-15 minutes apart, to then end up getting up too late and rushing through the morning. I did not realise the impact that such a stressful start to the day had on me until I changed my morning routine in line with the Miracle Morning Life S.A.V.E.R.S. steps.

So if you’re looking for some magical solution (or should I say: ‘miraculous’!) that will help you start the day peacefully and mindfully, leading to enhanced productivity and an overall improvement to your personal growth, allow me to introduce you to Hal Elrod’s Miracle Morning!

What is Miracle Morning?

Note how in the first sentence, I said that I am the first person to ‘claim’ I am not a morning person. I used the word ‘claim’, instead of ‘admit’, because I have now learnt, that being a morning person, or not, is not a thing! It isn’t something you’re born with, it is something you decide – it’s a habit you create.

A few months ago I came across the book: Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod.

In it, Hal talks about his personal life and the hurdles he’d had to overcome: a serious car accident, relationship breakdown, debts, and depression. At one of the lowest points of his life, he was told by his friend/mentor to go for a run in the morning. He did so, and that’s when the Miracle Morning was born. He realised that unless he works on himself, things won’t improve. He researched and put together six of the most popular habits that people of success do every day, and decided to use all of them each morning. His life dramatically improved, so he started sharing his idea with the world. There are now thousands of people who will tell you how life-changing the Life S.A.V.E.R.S. have been for them.

I’m one of those people and I do encourage you to read the book, where Hal explains in detail how to start having the best mornings (and days) ever! The Miracle Morning Book

My Miracle Morning

I’ve got to say, introducing Miracle Morning was easier than I expected.

While at the beginning I struggled with the early wake ups (remember – not a morning person!), I soon realised that my days are much happier, more peaceful and more productive when I do wake up at 5:00am and follow Hal Elrod’s Life S.A.V.E.R.S.

My Miracle Morning takes about an hour, but Hal provides you with the tools for an amazing start to the day whether you have an hour, or just 6 minutes in the morning. Yes, you read that right – in his book, Hal Elrod provides steps to a 6 Minute Miracle Morning for those days when that is all you can squish in!

I have been loving the time that I get to myself every morning while the rest of the household is sleeping! With three children at home all the time, I really do feel that I need that bit of ‘me time’ to start the day right. It’s like giving myself – my body and my mind – a big hug in the morning and a push out the door to ‘go, be great and achieve!’.

So what are those Life S.A.V.E.R.S.

Life S.A.V.E.R.S. are an acronym Hal Elrod came up with for the six of the most popular habits that people of success do every day, which you can do in any order, but I tend to follow the order as described by him:

Silence

I have been putting on a free meditation app called Smiling Mind, which I have had for a few years now and have used at random for both myself and the kids in the past. I have really loved the guided mindfulness meditations that the app provides, they have worked for our family before and they are proving to work for me again now – putting a smile on my mind every morning!

Affirmations

Affirmations were the one thing that I felt ‘weird’ doing, but they have truly grown on me now! In search for inspiration, I have found Hal Elrod’s personal affirmations among other MM Bonus Materials and after reading them I had a much better understanding of what I needed to concentrate on and tell myself every morning.

Visualisations

The Visualisations, unlike the Affirmations, came to me as naturally as can be! I have always been a positive person who would imagine and truly feel the moment of something good happening. I believe in the law of attraction, that the thoughts we allow to linger have a huge impact on our lives, so when Hal wrote about Visualisations, I had no doubt that it would be one of my favourite parts of every morning.

Exercise

Like many people, I have an… on-again-off-again relationship with exercise! When I do exercise, I love it. It makes me feel energetic and happy. When I don’t exercise, I also love it. It allows me to laze on a couch and read a book instead!

Well, that was the case before I introduced the Miracle Morning routine into my life. Now I get to exercise and read a book!

The exercises I choose to do daily are The Five Tibetan Rites. They are exercises which I watched my grandmother do for the past 25 years, and she is still doing them every day at 86! It was a no-brainer for me that I should do them, as I can only hope to be as fit as my grandma when I’m her age! So I grabbed the book that got grandma started onto The Five Tibetan Rites all those years ago and here I am, feeling great every morning!

Reading

In the next Life S.A.V.E.R.S. step, Hal encourages reading something of value every day. I’ve got to say, I love being forced to read daily! The first book he ever picked up during his own morning routine was Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill, a book that is now on my list of books to read!

If I was to recommend a book of true value for you to read this year (other than THE MIRACLE MORNING, of course!) it would be The Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman! It is a book written for couples, but I believe anyone and everyone should read it regardless of their relationship status, to gain understanding of themselves and of all the people that surround them! The book helped me identify and understand the primary love languages not just of myself and my husband, but my children, family, and even some friends. I find it very valuable in my day-to-day interactions with all those people!

Miracle Morning Journalling

Scribing

The final step of the Miracle Morning is keeping a journal. At the start I was writing down what I was grateful for each day and the Affirmations I came up with. That has now evolved more into diary writing, I still make sure I begin with gratitude, then I follow with anything else that I feel like recording or getting off my chest. I also have started using that time to blog now.

I hope you, too, will give the Life S.A.V.E.R.S a go and realise how life changing starting the day right can be!

Welcome back, I’ve been snooping around your blog and really enjoying everything I’ve read, and this post in particular! I’ve always been a morning person however having 2 little ones has robbed me of my routine (in a good way obviously!) I’ll have to have a read and try find some rhythm again.

Hope you’re settling in back home well and hope to catch up when you’re next up in Perth,
    Kind regards

      Thank you Amy!

You have made my day with your comment, especially that I am just in the middle of making this site what I envision it to be, so to hear you enjoyed it means the world! ❤️

We are finally settling in, it actually took a while longer than I expected! But we have our routines going now and the kids seem to have settled as well. I actually honestly believe The Miracle Morning helped me so much in getting to this point as well! I hope you find routines that work for you – as mums we tend to underestimate the need to take care of ourselves as well as our families!

Looking forward to a catch up in the near future! 😊
