Bi-carb free natural deodorants for sensitive skin that actually work!

Natural deodorants that actually work

Today I come to you with a natural deodorant review of three bicarb free natural deodorants that actually work! I have used them over the past few years and can confirm that these are all suitable for sensitive skin and they genuinely work: Black Chicken Barrier Booster, No Pong Bicarb Free and my current favourite: Native Deodorant Stick for Sensitive Skin.

MY NATURAL DEODORANT JOURNEY

When it comes to natural deodorants, I was quite dubious at first… and then, well: disappointed! When I started trying the various natural roll-ons and sprays found at supermarkets and health-food shops a few years ago, I found they didn’t work.

Then, when deodorant pastes came out, I tried them and found that my arm pits were becoming raw, and the brand of the deodorant didn’t matter – all the first edition natural deodorant pastes did that to me. And the manufacturers, instead of admitting that their products were harsh, would claim that your arm pits just needed to ‘detox’! (Yes, that is a genuine email response I received when emailing one company!!!)

So I did the only thing I could at the time and went right back to using the chemical laden antiperspirants, because I knew that the raw skin and pain were NOT OKAY and I am not someone willing to go deodorant-free!

Along the way, I also tried making my own deodorants with coconut oil, bicarb soda, etc. I found the same problem – my pits turned raw, but these experiments helped me narrow the issue down to one ingredient: I was reacting to the bicarb soda.

After a while, “sensitive skin” natural deodorant pastes started coming out, which replaced bicarb soda with other powders such as tapioca starch and arrowroot powder, so I gave them another shot! And what do you know, today I come to you with three natural deodorants that are bi-carb free, suitable for sensitive skin and… THEY ARE NATURAL DEODORANTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK!

BLACK CHICKEN REMEDIES NATURAL DEODORANT REVIEW

‘Black Chicken Remedies’ Axilla Natural Deodorant Paste: Barrier Booster for Sensitive Skin – This is the first deodorant paste I ever tried and I was happy enough with it! Bi-carb free and with a refreshing citrus scent, it is vegan, cruelty free and Australian made! It comes in a large, 75g jar and gets cheaper if you buy more than two at a time.

Not just Bicarb free it’s all the strength of Axilla Deodorant paste Original and it’s formulated to soothe and strengthen sensitive skin. Our awesome natural deodorant paste is rich in lipids and fatty acids, (essential for healthy cells) that actually strengthen your sensitive skin.

NO PONG NATURAL DEODORANT REVIEW

‘No Pong” All Natural Anti Odorant: Low frangrance and Bicarb FreeI was already happily using the Black Chicken Remedies natural deodorant, when a group of friends were talking about the NoPong version of it. I decided to google it, and ordered it to try when I ran out of the Axilla Barrier Booster. Cruelty free and Australian made, it is also plastic free as it comes in a tin made from material called “tinplate” which is a combination of tin and steel, and fully recyclable. The scent is lovely, but subtle, as you would expect from a low fragrance product (it is not fragrance free). This one is not vegan though, with beeswax on the ingredient list and the tin is only 35g in size (but it’s price reflects the size). While extremely effective on odour control, the one downside I found when using No Pong was an oily residue left on t-shirts.

No Pong uses all natural ingredients, that are extremely effective at reducing smelly armpit bacteria, along with delicious coconut oil and beeswax to keep it there all day, as well as ingredients designed to absorb sweat while allowing your skin to breathe, rather than simply blocking pores using aluminum salts, as traditional antiperspirant products are designed to do.

NATIVE NATURAL DEODORANT REVIEW

“Native” Sensitive Deodorant Stick RangeCLICK HERE and use the discount code: HEALTHY10 for 10% off your purchase!

I can’t say that I ordered Native because I was unhappy with any of the other two deodorants mentioned above, but now that I’ve tried it, Native is my favourite and I have just reordered it as we’re running out!

What appealed to me about the Native range was that they were in a stick form! All the natural deodorants in stick/roll on that I tried prior to discovering deodorant pastes have always been ineffective in my opinion – that is why I started using the pastes – and I was very happy with the results of the sensitive skin range of pastes.

When I saw the Native natural deodorants, I checked their ingredients list and realised that they are essentially like the paste – but in a stick! Yesss!!!!

So even though they are American and not Australian, I ordered their “Build your Pack” set with two sensitive deodorants for myself and one regular one for the husband. I also ordered a teen one for Mr11. We have all been very happy with them, as they apply just like a stick, but are all natural and effective! The advantage of these is that you can pick a scent as well and the product is 75g in size. I also find they don’t leave an oily residue on a t-shirt the way some of the pastes do. Something to keep in mind is that the website shows prices in USD, but with free shipping, the price after conversion to AUD is comparable to buying a deodorant paste in Australia, if not cheaper! :)

We have tried the Sensitive Cotton Lilly and Sensitive Linen & Cotton Flower for myself, the Eucalyptus & Mint for hubby, and Vitamin Sea for Mr11.

People love us (and we love them!)

We believe in creating personal care products that are better for your body. Every product we make is thoughtfully formulated to keep you feeling and smelling fresh.

NATURAL DEODORANTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK: FINAL THOUGHTS

But they also each have something on the other, so you can choose based on your beliefs and lifestyle, with the Black Chicken Barrier Booster being Vegan and Aussie, the No Pong being plastic-free and Aussie, and the Native coming in a convenient stick form and a multitude of scents from our friends across the Pacific.
